Our Story
Dunn Service Group is a family operated Industrial cleaning contractor that has served customers coast to coast since 1971. We offer a variety of industrial cleaning services to a diverse industry base.
1971
February
Carl “Tony” Dunn a former iron worker, noted that an earthquake caused damage to a nearby factory in Saugus, CA in February 1971. He began to make an inquiry of the need to assist at the plant. They needed the plant to be cleaned due to a fire. Soon thereafter, he was cleaning the facility with a newly acquired Malsbury steam cleaner.
After further inquiry from other plants with industrial cleaning needs, Tony traveled with a crew to Palestine, TX, and Jacksonville, FL, by steam cleaning with his newly founded business Stanley Steam Cleaning, Inc in 1971.
In the 70’s, the company became more diverse by offering industrial painting, hydroblasting and rebar installation. And moved the business from Reseda, CA, to Danville, VA in 1972.
1980
June
We provided industrial cleaning & maintenance painting for VEPCO, Anheuser Busch, Miller Brewing, IBM, and other firms. Noteworthy project was the construction cleanup of the 5 million square foot Toyota Georgetown, KY, prior to plant opening. We also painted the entire Anheuser Bush plant in Merrimack, NH.
1994
December
We simplified our offerings to industrial cleaning services and moved operations to Thomasville, NC and added dry ice blasting. We also formed a new company Dunn Service Group, Inc 1994 with Jonathan Dunn as President and CEO. We merged our companies into Dunn Service Group, Inc. A noteworthy project that decade was Tony providing consulting services for the US State Dept by providing industrial cleaning solutions following the first Kuwait war in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
2000
January
We added combustible dust remediation to our offerings. A noteworthy project was assisting Consol Energy, MSHA and VDMME in unsealing the mine shafts of the Buchanan mine in a safe manner after the mine fire.
2010
We added vacuum truck service and roof vacuum services. A noteworthy project of the decade was the Superior Industries combustible dust remediation of both the Fayetteville & Rogers, AR plants.
2020
To present day
Today we serve a variety of Fortune 500 companies with diverse industrial cleaning offerings to plants throughout North America.
